I tend to think that the personification of DS#1 represents more of a journey, an id, a struggle against societal norms than a mere person. DS#1 is an element of hope that lives within all of us, waiting to get out and find one "category" within the human existence in which we are all number one. DS#1 is akin to the plotline in the epic '90s movie Good Will Hunting, where a troubled youth from Southey overcomes his own past to unlock the secrets of the academic world (and himself in the process) with a middle aged counsellor attempting to come to grips with his own life. Much like the purpose of this blog, where we are mere "posters" attempt to sup in the body of "academic/ southern sociological" "knowledge" that exists within Chilly, while you, conversely, come to grips with (a) your lust for mexican food 2-3x per day (b) your love of the powder blue "southern fried" t-shirt as acceptable formal wear and (c) your recurring dream that you are an offensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, despite the fact that you have no connection with Northern California. On another note, can I take this opportunity to inform everyone that Saturday, June 27th is the NHL draft, where Brian "the big irishman" Burke and Cliff "the silver fox" Fletcher will attempt again to ressurrect the once great Toronto Maple Leafs dynasty. Current talk is Kaberle, #7 pick, and Stralman for Dubinsky, Staal and Redden. Don't do it gents... Doobie (god bless his soul) is too small, Redden is a bitch and I question Staal as being a long-term top 4 defenseman. Chilly, well said.
